Today sees the final of the biggest ever IBSA Blind Football European Championships, with seven-times champions Spain and 2015 runners-up Russia in contention for the prestigious title.

Both semi-finals on Thursday evening were tight and exciting matches that went to penalty shoot-outs to separate the teams.

In the first semi, Spain beat England 2-1 on penalties following a 2-2 draw. It was a cruel evening for the England team, who were leading 2-0 with seven minutes remaining before Acosta pulled one back for the Spaniards. Then, with just thirteen seconds left on the clock, England scored an own goal that took the match to penalties.

In the second semi-final Russia saw off France 4-3 in a penalty shoot out after another two each draw.

In yesterday's last match, Turkey beat Germany to fifth place, securing in the process a slot for the IBSA Blind Football World Championips in Madrid next June. The Turks overcame the hosts 2-1 on penalties after a tense nil-nil draw.
