The International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) and the United States Association of Blind Athletes (USABA) has launched the registration process for the 2019 IBSA General Assembly in Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA, from 3-6 July.

The General Assembly will take place during one of the most important competitions of the year. The 2019 IBSA Goalball and Judo International Qualifier from 2-9 July will see athletes try to secure their sports for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

There will be an evening reception on 3 July before a conference on 4 July and the General Assembly on 5 July. All activities will be hosted at the Hilton Convention Center.

The agenda will cover items such as the strategic plan for 2019-2024, the future of the sports IBSA is the International Federation for and their governance, and IBSA’s role growing blind sports in general. Further information about these topics will be sent to the membership in the coming months.

Registration for the General Assembly closes on 31 March. More information, including instructions, is available in the document at the top of this page.

Jannie Hammershoi, IBSA President, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming the IBSA membership to Fort Wayne in July where our direction for the next five years will be debated and decided.

“The General Assembly is always a great gathering of key figures from within sports for athletes with visual impairments. I hope to welcome all of our members for what I am sure will be a productive and enjoyable few days hosted by USABA.”

The 2019 IBSA General Assembly will be the 11th edition of the event which is held every two years.

The last meeting was held in 2017 in Cluj Napoca, Romania, where the current Executive Committee was also elected.

The 2019 IBSA Goalball and Judo International Qualifier will open on 2 July. Goalball will get underway straight away, followed by three days of judo action from 4-6 July.
