Germany and Canada Crowned World Youth Goalball Champions

After four days of challenging competion, the 2015 IBSA World Youth Games draw to a close.  Each of the 11 boys and girls teams that represented 7 counties played a extremely high level of competitive skill and spectators a great glimpse of the future of Goalball.

As the tournament entered the final matches the German boys and the girls from the United States were the top of their respective pools.   The German boys started strong and remained strong to the end of the tournament.  They finished with a perfect record, defeating a very stong Swedish team in the final match by a 12-2 margin.  The United States boys would go on to defeat Hungary, 6-3, to take the bronze medal. 

On the girl's side of the competition, it was very difficult to determine who would win.  However, the Canadan girls progessively improved throughout the tournamant and would narrowly defeat the United States by a 4-3 margin to garner the gold medal and earn the privelege to call themselves world champions.  China was another team that progressively improved throughout the tournament.  They would defeat the German girls (6-4) to claim the bronze medal.

Boys semifinal (1 versus 4):  Germany 15 - USA 5
Girls semifinal (2 versus 3): Canada 10 - Germany 2
Girls semifinal (1 versus 4): USA 6 - China 1
Boys bronze medal:  USA 6 - Hungary 3
Girls bronze medal:  China 6 - Germany  4
Boys gold medal:  Germany 12 - Sweden 2
Girls gold medal:  Canada 4 - USA 3
