Paris, France, one of the newest members of the IBSA Goalball family, was the site of a seminar conducted by IBSA Goalball over the weekend of 10 and 11 December. The seminar, conducted in Paris and hosted by Fédération Francaise Handisport helped to get the newly-established French goalball program off to a strong start.
During the seminar, 23 coaches, athletes and referees received a series of presentations on the rules, techniques and tactics of goalball, followed by hands-on training training in the gym.
With this new information, France is now preparing a men's team for the 2017 IBSA Goalball European C Championship and will also begin planning to host their own open international goalball in early 2017.
Paris, one of the remaining candidates for the 2024 Paralympic Games is optimistic about the success of their bid and plans to make a strong presence during the goalball competition.
This seminar is part of an IBSA Goalball Subcommitte ongoing projet to increase sport knowledege and participation throughout IBSA membership.
