The IBSA Blind Football European Championships are well underway in Berlin, Germany, and England and Spain have taken an early lead in group A and B respectively after two match days.

The tournament kicked off on Friday evening with a spectacular opening ceremony and the opening match between hosts Germany and Italy.

Germany took an early two goal lead before a thunderstorm hit the German capital and the game was suspended by officials. Play recommenced early on Saturday morning but there was no further scoring.

England brushed aside debutants Romania in the second of the group A matches, winning 6-0.

Group B began on Saturday evening with another two clear results - Spain beat Georgia 8-0 and Turkey surprised Belgium and ran out 7-0 winners.

The first game on match day two saw Italy beat Romania 4-0, with teenage star Paul Iyobo scoring all four goals. Then came a crunch match in group A, with France edging out Germany 2-1 in a close-fought fixture.

In yesterday's group B games, Russia and Turkey replayed the 2015 final, with Russia coming out on top 2-1 on this occasion thanks to two first-half strikes. In the final match of the day, Belgium defeated Georgis 4-0.

England lead group A on goal difference and there are four teams currently sitting on three points - England, France, Germany and Italy.

Spain, Turkey and Russia all have three points in group B, with Spain on top due to a superior goal difference.
