The International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA) Goalball has launched a search for hosts for a series of major Championships due to take place between 2022-2025.
With the calendar for 2021 filling-up quickly with regional and youth Championships and the announcement of Hangzhou, China, as the location of the 2022 Worlds, the sport is looking for organisers for the next cycle.
These include African, Americas, Asia/Pacific and European Championships for 2023 and 2025, as well as youth World Championships.
As more of a focus is put on developing the next generation of goalball players around the world, hosts are needed for youth regional competitions for the same four continents in 2022.
Also scheduled for 2022 and 2024 are the European Championships group B, alongside group C in 2023 and 2025.
Kari Rasanen, Chair of the IBSA Goalball Committee, said: “We are inviting bids from IBSA members in good standing that want to be part of the sport’s history - hosting high quality tournaments that will be remembered for years to come. As we will be entering the next Paralympic cycle in 2022 it is important we keep the momentum going and build on our successes.
“We are looking for organisers that have a passion for goalball and want to showcase the sport in their country, as well as provide the perfect platform for international athletes to shine.
“We hope to move forward from this difficult year together, and setting out the calendar for the next five years with some exciting events is the perfect way to do that.”
