Anti-doping imageIBSA would like to remind all athletes of the need to comply with the new World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) list of prohibited substances, which came into force on January 1st, 2021. The 2021 WADA list is available on this web site in English, French and Spanish:

The 2021 list has been redesigned in order to improve navigation and usability for athletes and their support personnel. It was approved by WADA’s Executive Committee during its meeting in September 2020.

One of the eight mandatory international standards all signitaries to the World Anti-Doping Code, including IBSA, must follow, the list designates what substances and methods are prohibited both in- and out-of-competition, and which substances are banned in particular sports.

The 2021 list is also available in other languages, including Arabic, German and Portuguese, on the WADA web site.

WADA Director General Olivier Niggli said: “WADA kindly ask athletes, their entourage and all other stakeholders to review the list carefully and to take particular note of this year’s modifications to avoid inadvertent use of substances and methods that are prohibited in sport for 2021.”

Athletes who have a legitimate medical reason for using a prohibited substance or method on the list they may be accommodated if they meet the criteria for an IBSA Therapeutic Use Exemption.
