No blind football game is possible without the participation and assistance of referees and officials. The IBSA Football Subcommittee recognises the pivotal role played by referees and officials to ensure games are played according to the rules and spirit of the sport.
In alignment with a new four-year term of the IBSA Football rules comes a new four-year term of the IBSA Football Referees Coordinator. For the period 2017 – 2021 Mariano Travaglino has been appointed as IBSA Football Referee Coordinator.
IBSA Football Referee Coordinator advises on refereeing and referee related issues. This includes such items as selecting referees for major championships, the referees program, answering rule-related enquiries, evaluation of referee clinics, assisting the growth of the referee programme in developing areas.
IBSA invites all blind football referees to register with IBSA by filling in the
referee form 2017-2021 to join the pool of international blind football referees. Selected referees will have the opportunity to take part in major sports events such as the IBSA Blind Football World Championships, the IBSA World Championships and Games, and the Paralympic Games.
IBSA is keen to expand the pool of qualified blind football referees worldwide. To this end, training courses and clinics are held regularly to introduce new referees to the exciting sport of blind football. Referee education is a major part of the Refereeing Co-ordinator´s role within the IBSA Football Subcommittee.
